Started in 1926, the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Bela, Muzaffarpur, and affiliated as a branch of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math in July 2003, has been serving the people of North Bihar through its religious, medical and humanitarian services with the twin ideals of self-realization and services to humanity as preached by the great Swami Vivekananda.
Many poor patients from far and near are given free services, according to the available resources. Cataract operations with IOL implantations are done by qualified eye surgeons. Eye-camps for villagers are also held, sponsored by Banks and Well-Wishers.
The Sevashrama as a part of its services to the poor and backward peoples, runs a Balak Sangha comprising of 60 boys and girls giving them one evening meal and non-formal education every day.
